MakeItInDesign Summer School Diaries (Week 1)

To refill the creative juices with energy and inspiration I have signed up to the MAKE IT IN DESIGN Summer School running through July 2015. Together with an incredibly creative and supportive folk of designers and illustrators from all over the globe we are taking the challenging projects each in our very own way. Participants can submit their design proposals for some awesome subject matter trend briefs issued by the school covering the upcoming trend period SS16. I am taking part in the Intermediate and Advanced Track.

Here are the first week's assignments and I am chuffed to see my designs on my design school's gallery.

1) INTERMEDIATE TRACK Theme 1: ECO ACTIVE ORGANIC DECAY

Here you can see all artist submissions: http://makeitindesign.com/ss15-intermediate-1/

This was my mood board, some of the decay photos on the right actually ended up in the final designs. Can you spot which?

I submitted the first design 'Aqua Decay' for the school's blog, however I did a a few more, as it was really fun to explore different forms of decay in nature (namely my garden), so here is a little series of designs, with the other two 'Eco Compost" and 'BBQ Rost'. In my portfolio you can read a bit more about how I made these designs.

2) ADVANCED TRACK Theme 1: PAST MODERN REWORKED CLASSIC

Here you can see all featured submissions: http://makeitindesign.com/ss15-advanced-1/

My mood board for this design:

I submitted the first design 'Purple Lace Stripe', but I experiemented a bit more with different scale and colour options and created variations as seen below and ended up with two mini collections 'Purple Lace' and 'Timeless'.

Like what you see and would like to get in touch to license these design or commission a design project? Fab!
